This bowl is decorated with a scene of hanami, cherry-blossom viewing. The spring pastime was a favourite subject of the studio, allowing its painters to combine crowds of figures with the delicate pinks of blossoming trees. Peonies decorate the interior, so the bowl moves from one season’s flowers outside to another’s within. Hanami gatherings also appear on the tall boating vases sold by Bonhams in 2022 and 2026.

The bowl measures 13.3 centimetres in diameter and 7.6 centimetres high. It was sold at Christie’s New York in March 2025, in the same sale as a tall bowl with a daimyō procession, It is signed on the base. Offered at Christie’s, Japanese and Korean Art, New York, on 18 March 2025, lot 192. It realised US$16,380 including buyer’s premium, against an estimate of US$12,000–US$22,000.
