Louis Lawrence illustrates two examples of a simple “Meizan” (明山) mark, one in a rounded cartouche and one written freely. He captions them “Used by Yabu Tsuneo, Meizan’s adopted son, after his own retirement in 1926” (directory entry 131, p. 242). The caption is ambiguous about whose retirement is meant. Other sources date the founder’s retirement to 1926, when Tsuneo took over as the second Meizan (see The Yabu Family).

Authentic features

As illustrated by Lawrence 2011, p. 242, entry 131.
