An ovoid jar and cover with horizontal bands of landscape, flower heads and boys on their festival day. The festival banners, usually painted with samurai, are here inscribed with characters meaning ‘Great Japan, Yabu Meizan’. Lawrence calls this “one of only a handful of occasions” he had seen where Meizan signed within the scene, as well as on the base in the usual way (p. 40).
