This miniature vase of flattened meiping form is distinguished by an unusual robin’s-egg blue ground on its shoulder, over which trail vines of wisteria. The body carries heart-shaped panels raised in low relief. They frame groups of children at games and elegant pastimes, and a seascape with sailing vessels among rocky islands and distant mountains. Geometric bands finish the neck and foot.
The coloured ground sets it apart from the cream-ground pieces that make up most of the works recorded in this archive. The vase is 10.8 centimetres high. It is signed in gilt ‘Yabu Meizan’. Offered at Bonhams, Fine Japanese & Korean Art, New York, on 16 September 2026, lot 1067. It realised US$12,160 including buyer’s premium, against an estimate of US$6,000–US$8,000.
